WordPress SEO services

WordPress SEO services from people who work in the admin every day

Generic SEO advice stops at “improve your page speed” and “add schema”. On WordPress the useful answer is which plugin is emitting the duplicate markup, why your tag archives are eating your crawl budget, and what Elementor is adding to every page. That is the level we work at, for clients across the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

What WordPress does badly out of the box

None of this is a reason to leave WordPress. All of it is a reason not to treat a WordPress site like any other site.

Attachment pages

WordPress makes a page for every image you upload. Hundreds of thin URLs with no content, all crawlable, all competing with the pages you care about.

Category and tag archives

Tag pages generated from a single use tag, pagination running twelve pages deep with no canonical strategy, and the same posts listed in four places.

Duplicate schema

An SEO plugin outputs Article JSON-LD, the theme outputs its own, and a review plugin adds a third. Google picks one block or trusts none of them.

Page builder weight

Elementor and Divi wrap content in nested divs. It is not a penalty, but it slows the page and buries the text that should be prominent.

Default permalinks

Sites still running ?p=123 or dates in every URL, so the structure says nothing about the page and changing it now means a redirect map.

Plugin sitemaps fighting

Two plugins each generating a sitemap, one of them listing URLs the other marks noindex. Search Console reports both and trusts neither.

The plugin question

Rank Math or Yoast, and does it matter

Less than the internet suggests. Both handle titles, meta, sitemaps and schema perfectly well, and neither will rank you on its own.

We use Rank Math on most builds because the schema controls are finer grained and more of it is in the free tier. Yoast is the safer institutional choice and its content analysis is gentler on writers. SEOPress is the lightest of the three. What matters far more is that you run exactly one of them, that its schema is not duplicating the theme, and that somebody has actually been through the settings rather than accepting defaults.

If you are already on one, we will not move you unless there is a reason. Migrating SEO settings between plugins is a genuine risk and “the other one is slightly better” is not worth it.

Questions

WordPress SEO questions, answered straight

SEO services for WordPress are the end of it we cover here. Our wider SEO services cover strategy and content on any platform, and the rest of what we do with WordPress is on the services page.

Want to know what is holding your site back?

Send the URL. We will look at the plugin setup, the schema and the crawl waste, and tell you the three things worth fixing first.

For WordPress specifically, a one-off technical clean up is a fixed price and usually the right first step. Ongoing work is a monthly retainer and the number depends on how competitive your market is and how much content needs writing. We quote after looking at the site and the search results you are actually trying to win, not from a package sheet.

Rank Math, Yoast and SEOPress are all capable, and the choice matters far less than the configuration. Run one, not two. Make sure it is not duplicating schema your theme already outputs. Then spend your effort on the pages themselves, because no plugin has ever ranked a page on its own.

Yes, though the shape has changed. Fewer people click through from informational queries because AI answers them in the results. Commercial searches, where somebody is choosing who to hire or buy from, still convert through organic results. If your pages exist to win those searches, the work still pays.

No, but ranking for definitions and how-to questions largely is. The answer engines need sources, and they cite pages that are specific, current and structured. That is the same work as ranking well, aimed slightly differently. We cover it properly on our AI search optimisation page.

No. We build in Elementor and rank sites built in it. What hurts is nesting sections eight deep, loading widget CSS on templates that never use it, and letting the builder bury your H1 under three wrappers. Those are build problems, not Elementor problems.

Yes. Product and category pages, variation URLs that would otherwise duplicate, filter and facet pages that eat crawl budget, and product schema with price and availability that stays accurate as stock changes.

Same discipline, narrower lens. Our SEO services page covers strategy, content and links on any platform. This page is for when the site is WordPress and the problems are WordPress ones. Most clients end up using both.
