Web and CMS development

Website development services, on the platform that actually suits you

We build on WordPress, Shopify, Wix and hand written code, which means we have no reason to push you toward the one we happen to sell. Website development services for businesses across the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, starting with an honest answer about what you should be building on.

Pick the platform before you pick the design

Half the projects that go wrong were built on the wrong thing. This is the conversation we have first, and sometimes it ends with us recommending something we do not sell.

Content-led sites, and anything that needs to grow past twenty pages without turning into a maintenance problem.

Most of what we build

Selling physical products at volume, where checkout reliability matters more than owning the stack.

Best for retail

When the thing you are building is really an application and no CMS is going to hold it.

When nothing fits

Small sites that need to exist, look decent and cost very little to keep running.

Sometimes the right call
Non negotiable

What every build includes, whatever it is built on

The platform changes. These do not.

What every build includes: you own the code, your team can edit it, it is fast on a phone and tracked properly

The shape of the work is the same every time: discovery, a content map, wireframes before anything visual, then the build. What changes is what sits behind it, whether that is a brochure site, an ecommerce store, a web application with a database and an API behind it, or a migration off something you have outgrown. Integration work runs alongside all four.

How we decide

Three questions, before anything gets designed

You get the recommendation in writing, including the reasoning, so you can disagree with it.

What has to happen on the site?

Reading and enquiring is a different build to buying, booking or logging in. This question alone rules out two of the four platforms most of the time.

Who updates it after launch?

If that is a marketing person, the build has to be safe to edit. If it is nobody, we build something that does not need editing.

Where is this in three years?

A site you will outgrow in eighteen months is a cheap site twice. A site built for a scale you never reach is money left on the table.

Proof

What the builds have been worth

Three sites on three different stacks, with the numbers the clients measured themselves.

Not sure what you need building?

Tell us what the site has to do and who has to keep it running. We will tell you what to build it on, in writing, before anyone talks about money.

The honest range is wide because “a website” covers a five page brochure and a booking platform. What moves it: how many unique page templates you need, whether money changes hands on the site, and how much has to connect to other systems. We quote a fixed price per project after a call rather than an hourly rate, split 50% up front and 50% on delivery.

Same answer, and worth adding what makes it cheaper: having your content ready, accepting a smaller set of templates, and choosing a platform that already does most of what you need. Most of what makes a build expensive is deciding things halfway through.

It has replaced a slice of the work, mostly boilerplate and first drafts, and we use it daily for exactly that. What it has not replaced is deciding what to build, making it work on real devices for real users, and being accountable when it breaks at nine at night. Sites generated end to end by a prompt are easy to spot and hard to maintain.

If the site is a brochure nobody reads, no. If it is where people decide whether to trust you, it is usually the cheapest salesperson you will ever hire. The test is whether you can name what the site is supposed to make happen. If you cannot, fix that before spending anything.

Whichever one answers the three questions above best. In practice we build most things on WordPress, stores on Shopify, and reach for custom code when the thing is really an application. We have also told people to stay on Wix and spend the money on advertising instead.

Usually, and often it is the better call. We start with an audit of what is there, and if the bones are sound you get a plan to fix and extend rather than a quote to rebuild. Rebuilding a site that only needed three fixes is a waste of your money and our time.

You do, from day one. Domain, hosting, code, licences and logins all sit in your name, and we work inside your accounts. If you leave, nothing breaks and nothing needs unpicking.
