Something on your WordPress site broke. We fix WordPress sites, one problem at a time
No retainer, no onboarding call, no package you have to buy into. Tell us what is broken, we will tell you what it is and what it costs to put right, and then we put it right. Most things are back working the same day. We fix WordPress sites for businesses across the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
What we get called about most weeks
WordPress troubleshooting is mostly elimination, and if yours is on this list we have almost certainly seen it before. If it is not, it is still probably one of these wearing a different hat.
There has been a critical error
WordPress catching a fatal PHP error and refusing to show you what it was. Usually a plugin conflict or a PHP version the code was never written for.
The white screen of death
A blank page with no error at all. Same family of causes, with debug output switched off so nothing reaches the browser.
Error establishing a database connection
Wrong credentials in wp-config, a database server that has fallen over, or a host that has quietly suspended you.
500 internal server error
Often a corrupted .htaccess, a PHP memory limit that has been hit, or a process timing out before it finishes.
Contact forms that stopped sending
Nearly always deliverability rather than the form. The site is sending through PHP mail and the receiving server is dropping it.
Layout broken after an update
A theme or page builder update changing markup underneath your custom CSS. Fixable without rolling the update back in most cases.
404s and redirect loops
Permalinks that lost their rewrite rules, a migration that left old URLs behind, or two redirect plugins arguing with each other.
Suddenly, painfully slow
One plugin doing something expensive on every page load. Finding which one is most of the job.
Three steps, no retainer
You are not signing up to anything. This is a job, not a relationship, unless you want it to be one.
Tell us what you see
A screenshot and the URL is usually enough. If you know what changed just before it broke, say so, because that is often the whole answer.
We look, then quote
We diagnose before quoting, so the price is for the actual problem rather than a guess. If it turns out to be a five minute fix we say so and charge accordingly.
Fixed, and explained
We work on a copy where we can, put the fix live, and tell you in plain English what was wrong so you can stop it recurring.
Sometimes it is not a bug at all
A decent share of the things we are asked to fix are not broken code. We would rather tell you that in the first email than bill you for an afternoon.
- An expired theme or plugin licence quietly disabling features
- A host that suspended the account over a payment or a resource limit
- A DNS or SSL certificate that lapsed
- Someone in the team changing a setting and not mentioning it
- A caching layer showing the old version of a page you already fixed
- An ad blocker or a browser extension breaking the page only for you
What you get, even on a small job
A one hour fix is still somebody else’s website, so it gets treated like one.
A backup before we touch it
Taken first, every time, so there is always a way back even on a fifteen minute job.
A fixed price, agreed first
You approve a number before work starts. No hourly meter running while we investigate.
An explanation you can keep
What was wrong, what we changed, and what would stop it happening again.

Broken site questions, answered straight
If things break often rather than once, a care plan is cheaper than repeated fixes. If you think it is an infection, that is security.
Site down right now?
Message us with the URL and a screenshot. We will tell you what we think it is before you commit to anything.
How can I repair my WordPress site?
Start by working out whether it is the site or everything around it. Try the site in a private window and on mobile data to rule out caching and your own network, check whether your host has a status page, and if you can still reach wp-admin, deactivate plugins one at a time. If you cannot reach wp-admin at all, rename the plugins folder over FTP and see if the site comes back. That one step solves a large share of critical errors.
Why is my WordPress site not working?
In rough order of likelihood: a plugin or theme update that conflicted with something, a PHP version change at the host, a hosting or database outage, an expired licence or certificate, or an infection. The error message matters, so if you can see one, send it. If the screen is blank, switching WP_DEBUG on usually reveals the file and line causing it.
How do I fix my WordPress critical error?
WordPress emails the site administrator address with the actual fatal error and a recovery mode link, so check that inbox first because it names the offending plugin outright. If the email never arrives, rename the plugins folder to disable everything, confirm the site loads, then restore plugins one at a time until it breaks again.
What does a fix cost?
We quote per problem after diagnosing it, so a straightforward plugin conflict and a broken checkout are not priced the same. There is no minimum retainer and no package. If the diagnosis shows the real fix is something else entirely, like moving host, we will tell you rather than patching around it.
How fast can you start?
Usually the same day for anything where the site is down or not taking orders. Message us with the URL and what you are seeing. If we cannot get to it quickly we will say so straight away rather than leaving you waiting.
Do you need my logins?
Eventually, yes, for wp-admin and usually hosting or FTP. Create a fresh administrator account for us rather than sharing yours, and delete it when we are done. If you would rather watch over a screen share on a small job, that works too.
Can you fix WordPress sites you did not build?
Almost every site we fix is one we did not build. That includes sites built on themes we would not have chosen and by developers who have since disappeared. We are not going to lecture you about it, we are going to make it work.
Tell us what you need and we will show you how we would do it
Share a few details about your business and what you want to fix or build. It could be a new website, a WordPress site that keeps breaking, SEO that has stalled, or a sales process that needs automating. We will come back with honest advice, even if that means a smaller job than you expected.
A reply within one business day
A real person on the team reads your message and replies, usually the same day.
A free review of your current setup
We look at your website, rankings or systems before we talk, so the call is useful.
A written proposal
You get a clear scope, timeline and price in writing before any work starts.
